On April 6, Indiana State Police detectives were called to investigate the death of an infant at a residence in Shipshewana.
On July 29, in coordination with the LaGrange County Coroner’s Office, the LaGrange County Sheriff’s Department, and the Shipshewana Marshal’s Office, the ISP determined there was enough evidence to charge the infant’s mother, 24-year-old Chantel Cunningham of Shipshewana.
Cunningham is being charged with murder and neglect of a dependent, causing death, and is currently being held at the LaGrange County Jail.
